Ashford Castle Swan and Cygnet
A swan and cygnet feed from pristine River Cong waters flowing past the doors of Ashford Castle, County Mayo, Ireland. The mile long River Cong rises from deep fissures in the limestone bedrock under the Lough Mask, emerging in the village of Cong. The flow is very strong year round, as can be seen from the ripples beneath the parent swan. Cong and the river were settings for the film "The Quiet Man."
